Entries invited for IBM Student Challenge

ByTE invites entries for ‘IBM  Students for a Smarter Planet Challenge’

Students for a Smarter Planet has worked with IEEE to design this year’s student challenge. Last year, from 115 entries $20,000 was awarded to the top ideas.

In the challenge, teams from different academic disciplines create ways to use technology to improve the world.

Student teams must have three to five members in any year of university study. At least one must be a member of IEEE and at least one individual should be majoring in an area other than electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.

The last date of submission of the project by a university team is November 1, 2013.

Up to five student teams across the ten IEEE Regions will be eligible to receive Smarter Planet Challenge awards.

First place: US$5,000 for each team
Second place:
US$4,000 for each team
Third place:
US$3,000 for each team
Fourth place:
US$2,000 for each team
Fifth place:
US$1,000 for each team
