“Tepper International case competition was a phenomenal experience. A team of 5 comprising of myself, Javier, Saurabh Vijayvergia, Jing Zhao and Andrejs set out in high spirits for Pittsburg late in the evening of 8th Nov 2012. All the participating schools were divided into two groups and Purdue was placed in the “Group of Death” as we called it. The participating schools in group A were MIT, Purdue, UNC, CMU, Yale, MC Combs. We knew it was going to be tough to beat the best of the best and claim a position in the finals. 12 hours of brainstorming, number crunching and analyzing brought us to a feasible solution to improve the supply chain of Emerson Corporation that was facing problems with its product portfolio, service level and inventory management.
Next day, Team Purdue presented its recommendations and it came as a big achievement that that we defeated all other schools in our group and claimed a spot in the finals. The judges were particularly impressed with our detailed analytical approach to solving the case. Although, Purdue claimed the fourth spot in the finals, it was an immense learning and networking opportunity and Team Purdue outshined at the event.”
